Hardback, 226mm x 142mm green cloth boards, gilt titles, first edition, vi prelims, 122pp. Black and white illustrations. Good/NoWrapper. Book in good condition given age in tight and likely latter-day binding - surely by Davis of Birmingham whose small sticker is on inner front board. Spine and boards a little bumped but overall clean. Block is generally a little darkened and grubby from handling with occasional pencil marks and some staining particularly on blank pages opposite plates in middle of book. Published by the author and printed for him by Swinney and Hawkins of Birmingham, this is a marvellous snapshot of business life in the still-new industrial metropolis of Birmingham in 1800, consisting of visual advertisements for subscribing local businesses, a poetic praise of Birmingham by Bisset and an index.
